Rebecca Sommers has lived in North Carolina since age 7. She attended Elon University and graduated magna cum laude in 2019, with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice Studies. Her time at Elon ignited her passion for criminal justice and her interest in immigration law.

That same year, she began her studies at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Law. During her final year of law school, she worked in the school’s Immigration Clinic helping clients build their asylum cases. She graduated in 2022 and received her North Carolina bar licensure soon after.

Soon after getting sworn in to the Bar, Rebecca became the staff attorney at Church World Service in Durham, NC. During her year at this Refugee Resettlement Agency, she gave legal advice to immigrants of varying statuses, cultures, and backgrounds. Those served were from places such as Myanmar, Afghanistan, Senegal, and Colombia. She also succeeded in helping over 40 people obtain permanent residency and helped multiple people become U.S. citizens.

In her free time, Rebecca enjoys reading, trying new foods, listening to podcasts, and learning Spanish. This is something she works on every day, and her dream is to one day be fluent.

Rebecca has always been passionate about advocating for others and steadfastly believes that everyone deserves competent representation in court. She is detail-oriented, conscientious, honest, and empathetic, and she will do her part to ensure that your side of the story is told.
